The Best Gloves for Skiing

I bought these gloves for a ski trip to Taos, NM in early February. These gloves fit well, kept my hands/fingers warm the entire day. Now granted, it was a warmer day, and my hands were so warm that I did have to remove them at times (like on the lift) so that my hands did not get too sweaty. I put them on and off quite a bit throughout the day, and only a couple of times did the liner move a bit to make the fingers have trouble going in. That normally happened when I was in a hurry with sweaty hands, but then I would try it again and my fingers went right in on the second try. The only time my fingers got slightly chilly was at the very end of the day when the sun was going down. They also have straps that you can loop around your wrists, but I actually used a small carabiner to clip them to my coat.

I had a great customer experience with Tough Outdoors. Using the recommended measuring technique, my hand measures 8.25 in. so I bought the medium. They fit snug, but not uncomfortable. Many might say ‘like a glove’. But for me, skiing temps are unpredictable so I like to have room for a glove liner, just in case. I contacted Tough Outdoors and they took care of me quickly, rushing out a size large. I just had an epic day skiing, yes in April, and the gloves worked great. I really like the wrist strap since I’m always messing with something on the chair lift. The temps were in the mid-’20s and my fingers were plenty warm. These gloves are of great value.

I had previously bought nearly identical gloves from the same company and liked them so much, I thought I would try these since they were about 5 bucks cheaper for the same main features. The only difference I can detect is these gloves are all black and the others have a bit of gray trim. I really like the features and fit. Nice and toasty. If there are anything to say about these gloves compared to the other, more expensive gloves, it is that the fit is not as precise as the more expensive version, but very, very slight. Nothing to get in a twist over. The price break is worth it although I enjoy these gloves equally. When I find something I really like, I usually get a back-up/spare. These gloves are no exception!

Overall, these are great gloves for snowboarding, especially for the price! I go boarding every weekend in Breckenridge, CO and these have held up and kept me warm everyday! It gets ridiculously cold some days and these have never let me down, they don’t call it Breckenridge for anything. The only downside I’ve come across is that these are not very waterproof. After about 4 hours these things are pretty waterlogged. That being said, even with them being soaked they keep you warm and comfortable.
The pictures I posted show the level of wear after about 80 – 90 hours of use. The figure tips all pretty much show signs of light wear. The thumb/palm seams show mild wear and some stretch seams, the right hand has a chunk of the fan-tex material missing. I usually carry my board with my right hand which is most likely the reason for the increased wear on the right glove. I’d recommend these to anyone beginners or snowsport enthusiasts on a budget. If you’re the type of person to hit the slopes multiple days in a row these might not be for you. With how much water they absorb it’s hard to get them dry for the next day without using the dryer.

These are perfect for my needs. I am a size medium and they fit nicely. I have small hands but they are chubby. If I went to a large I may have had a difficult time driving. I bought these for snow but I am not a snowboarder. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet. Sorry. Not too stiff either. Very nice gloves.

I’m 61 years old with small hands, the small fit me well, but if you have short with thick fingers, you should go up at least one size. I’m 6 foot and weigh 170. Going by their size chart my fingers are appr 3/4 inch shorter than the lowest number, but when I make a first they get just a little tight. They should break in some. My point is, just don’t go by the length of your fingers, if you have fat or thicker fingers go up at least one size. I was out today for about one hour, it was 30 degrees with the wind blowing creating appr 20 degrees wind chill, they did well. I felt just a little chill, but my hands and fingers never got cold. They were worth the money. Update, it was 29 degrees this morning with a 19-degree wind chill, my fingers did it coldly. Cold enough where I had to blow into the glove to help warm them up. I was out walking my dog both times. I would say is gloves will keep your fingers warm down to 31 degrees.

I’ve been using these gloves for almost a week, it has been fairly cold and constantly raining. The comfort of these gloves is outstanding. The inside lining is soft and warm and does not become fatiguing to wear for extended periods. I have not gotten any water infiltration, which is good since these claim to be waterproof, and indeed seem to be. The craftsmanship is excellent. It easily matches my previous gloves, which cost more than double the price of these Akaso gloves. Two other things I love about these gloves: 1) the palm side is very grippy! The rubber used is soft, yet very grabby, such as when carrying my metal coffee tumbler. The palm also seems dual-layered in the middle, which adds a nice assurance for durability. 2) the drawstrings at the wrist that can tighten the base of the gloves around a winter jacket, which my pricey Au Clairs did not have. Should to the trick to keeping the snow out of my sleeve! All in all, a more than worthy pair.

These seem really well made. We are not huge snow people and don’t visit all that often so typically I borrow gear and this time decided to just buy us our own things. I purchased 2 pairs for myself and my daughter but my husband saw them as I was opening the package and took them and said they were now his. I think I ordered an XS for my daughter and a medium for myself but I fit fine in the smaller size and the larger size is actually quite roomy and better suited for larger hands. Even the smaller size reaches well above my wrist which is perfect as I detest being cold. They are really soft fleece inside and are quite warm. The outside has a faux leather palm which should make gripping gear easier. I can’t attest to the durability as we just received these but I will update my review after a few uses.

These gloves are comfortable and warm if a bit bulky. I haven’t had snow yet, so can’t speak to how well they’ll keep my fingers dry or warm after an afternoon of sledding, skiing, shoveling, building snowmen, or having snowball fights, but they did well on a mile walk last week in 25-degree weather; while I could feel my fingers getting a little colder, they weren’t numb like in my other gloves. They have an adjustable wrist band to let you cinch them down, a small pocket for a key or maybe a card, and a relatively grippy palm. My largest complaint is that they’re fairly bulky so that it’s difficult to bend my fingers or do any sort of activity that takes dexterity. But I’ll take warm fingers that I can’t bend over fingers that are too cold to feel or bend.

As soon as I received these gloves, I put them in a bucket of water half full of ice cubes. I left them in the ice water the fingers and thumb submerged for over 15 minutes. They were bone dry inside. Once my hands were in the gloves they warmed in seconds from the body heat of my hands. These gloves are quality made. The fit is precise if you will accurately measure your hand as instructed. I highly recommend these winter gloves.

These are excellent go-anywhere winter gloves. I purchased mine for hiking and snowboarding. I am an off-trail hiker and usually need a pretty tough glove to last the whole winter. These will fit the bill for sure. Just tried them on temp 32F/ windchill 20F. Gloves fit perfectly, like them that way. As far as the water and wind resistance they stood up to the task. Hands did not get cold, the 3M insulate really is pretty solid. The pocket helps to keep the warmer or chapstick. I will update when used in normal winter conditions in Dec. But as far as fit and water and wind resistance I give them a 5. The seller is great and answered my question about the gloves pretty fast. It seems they easy to work with, quite responsive, and very good-natured. I highly recommend them and their products for anyone out in the snowy elements. Really thumbs up!

I have a condition that leaves my hands highly susceptible to cold. Finding a pair of gloves (as opposed to reliably warmer mittens), especially ones that actually leave me the use of my fingers, has always been a losing proposition. I am so grateful to have found a pair that keeps my hands toasty and dry no matter how nasty the winter weather. I can even use a touchscreen without removing them, though (of course) easier without. The drawstring above the wrist works beautifully and ensures a snug fit over whatever coat I wear. The stylish orange stripe on the grey gloves makes them easy to locate (and more difficult to lose….). Excellent design and manufacture in all details. I couldn’t be happier.

Really nice winter gloves, worth the price tag. Avg winter temp here in NE is 15-30. Keep my hands nice and warm. Absolutely love the 2x strap/elastic combo and how it goes past your wrists! These gloves are great for easy task jobs like snow blowing, shoveling, etc. I wouldn’t consider them driving gloves or sports gloves, but I do use them to drive, just pushing buttons is basically pressing 2 buttons at once. they are thick and for me a little too big but they fit my needs 100%.

I got an opportunity to try out these gloves on the slopes over the last week, and I’m very satisfied with them. Despite not being bulky, the gloves did a great job of keeping my hands warm at temperatures that ranged from 20-35 degrees F even in windy conditions. The gloves are longer than other ski gloves I’ve owned and overlap the end of the coat sleeves, a feature that further serves in trapping heat. Further, I had no issues with water intrusion despite the gloves getting wet. The gloves do work with phone touch screens as advertised; however, this feature was less useful as typing on a screen wearing a glove even a not particularly bulky one-turned out to be challenging. Despite this caveat, these are great gloves for even 3x the price, and I’ll be ordering another pair.
